The story behind these gloves…

I’ve been appreciative and a fan of this guy ever since I had the pleasure of chatting to him on the phone back in 2018 when SMG was just starting to grow. I was looking for some ambassadors and I was told to check out this young fella who could play a bit from NZ. I did and I was instantly impressed how he played and straight away I knew I had to somehow convince him to join SMG.

Fast forward 6 months and things were going ok until every human beings worst nightmare came smashing into my life when I was ripped off by an overseas manufacturer of $12,000.

I was in a bad way because I’ll be honest I didn’t have a lot of money. One day this guy I’m talking about says to me why don’t you have a website I said simple answer is I can’t afford one and he says well find out how much it is and I’ll pay for it. I didn’t want to borrow money off anyone but he persisted and said FIND out. I found out and boom just like that he pays for the website and I was just totally gobsmacked how someone I’d never met put so much trust into what I did.

Over time when I started making money I wanted to pay the money back for the website and he says to me NO, it was my gift to you and thinking back now it’s probably the greatest thing anyone has ever done for me in my dreams of doing what I do. So the reason I’m talking about this guy is because it’s time for SMG to give back to a person who’s done more than he could ever imagine for SMG.

I’ve left his name silent until now so you all would keep reading my 3 page book, for someone to open their wallets for me when I needed help the most I wanna try give back and I am absolutely honoured to share this great news with this guy and fans of NZ indoor cricket and fans around the world.

Robbie Hyndman is the man I am talking about, this guy is simply a hero of mine now and forever.

In October RH17 will go to Sri Lanka to try and win his first ever World Cup at his 7th attempt, runner up on 4 occasions. Could this year be the year he finally wins one, let’s hope he does.

This may not be as special to Robbie as giving me a website but I’ve designed a set of indoor cricket gloves that Robbie Hyndman will wear in SL and with the help of Chris Fitzgeralds brainwave I’ve decided to release these gloves for anyone in NZ to buy. All profits I make I’ll be giving to Robbie to help fund his Sri Lankan tour.

If we don’t sell any of the SMG Hyndman17 Indoor Cricket Gloves then that’s ok at least Robbie will wear something I am happy I did for him.
